ASA is examining the impact of a possible new overhead power line in Suffolk on the operations of several local airstrips in the local area. This safeguarding assessment is being undertaken on behalf of the National Grid.

ASA is undertaking a study of the aviation implications of a proposed new stadium and residential development at an airfield in the South East of England. The project, which involves assessing the development against CAP168 requirements, has been commissioned by the local authority.

ASA is providing an assessment of the expected traffic impact of the Cargo West Apron constructed with a 610m runway extension at East Midlands Airport. The assessment will be used to support a Lands Tribunal claim by local residents relating to the increased noise impact from the joint apron / runway extension development.

On behalf of the Government of Cote d'Ivoire, ASA is undertaking a strategic review of the concession agreement at Abidjan (FHB) International Airport. The study involves an assessment of the performance of the current concession and an evaluation of future requirements for renewal of the contract, including traffic forecasts, projected revenues, operating costs and a capital expenditure plan.

ASA has been selected for a Framework Agreement for consultancy services for the Civil Aviation Authority. The Framework Agreement covers technical and financial analyses for the CAA's Economic Regulation Group (ERG), including reviews of airport capital expenditure plans, operating costs, revenue projections and cost allocation processes.

ASA is advising Carlisle City Council in relation to a Planning Application for the development of a new freight and distribution facility and the upgrading of its main runway for passenger services. Carlisle Airport is operated by Stobart Air Services Ltd, part of the Stobart Group.

The Commission is responsible for the deternination of airport charges at Dublin Airport and
other regulatory matters.

Following its earlier work on the Stansted Generation 2 proposals, ASA is now evaluating the need, scope and timing of the projects in BAA's 2008 Capital Investment Programme (CIP) for the airport. The assessment, which is being carried out for the Competition Commission, is required as part of their quinquennial review of airport charges for the period 2009/10 to 2013/14.

ASA is assessing the impact of a major building development at an airfield in Southern England. The project involves an appraisal of the airfield safeguarding and other operational issues in accordance with CAA licencing requirements.

ASA has been appointed by the Competition Commission to provide advice on the layout options and capital costs for BAA's G2 proposals (second runway and terminal development) at London Stansted Airport. The project, which is being carried out in the context of the Competition Commission's market investigation into the supply of airport services by BAA, is being undertaken in conjunction with the cost consultants, Gleeds. Peter Forbes is Team Leader for a European Framework Contract assigment to formulate a new Euro 10 million project for technical assistance and training in the civil aviation sector in the ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) region. The potential areas of cooperation include the integration of civil aviation into a single ASEAN regional market, aircraft safety, airport/airline security and improvement of the environmental impacts of civil aviation.
