Air Traffic Management Studies

Advice to the European Commission (EuropeAid)
Advisor to the European Commission (EuropeAid) for a project undertaken to improve air traffic control and air safety in the Balkans region. The project, which is funded by the EC’s CARDS programme, was awarded jointly to Eurocontrol and the Joint Airworthiness Authority (JAA).

Tanzanian SSR radar system evaluation
Technical assessment of a World Bank funded project to upgrade the Tanzanian SSR radar system. The evaluation was carried out to provide a second opinion on the selection a suitable equipment manufacturer.

ATC system requirements – Azerbaijan
This study, funded by The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, amongst other things, assessed the technical requirements for new ATC equipment for Azerbaijan. The project also examined institutional issues, income streams and debt service considerations.

Redhill airport development
An assessment of the airspace routings and potential capacity of the development of Redhill airport as a secondary reliever airport within the south east. The evaluation used the FAA’s SIMMOD model to assess the potential flight approach and departure routings and the implication on system capacity at both Redhill and Gatwick airports.

Euromaya audit programme – Central America
A series of audit missions on behalf of the Economic External Relations Directorate (DG I) of the European Commission, investigating progress and operation of air traffic control, civil works, finance and administration, and systems and equipment programmes of the Corporación Centroamericana de Servicios de Navegación Aérea (COCESNA). Training and organisational matters were also addressed in this programme.

ATC controller training project
The identification and design of two projects for ATC controller training funded under the European Commission’s Tacis Programme for Russia and the CIS. The project covered both technical training in approach and en-route sector control and English language training.
