Airport Privatisation

Following the privatisation of the UK airports group, BAA plc in 1979,
a wide range of airports throughout the world have been privatised.

Typical models include:

• A full or partial public share offer (IPO)
• A full or partial trade sale

In addition to transferring ownership, many airports have been able to
develop new terminal and other infrastructure through:

• A build-operate transfer (BOT) concession
• A build-operate-own (BOO) concession
• A Public Private Partnership (PPP) or Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV)

Advice can be provided to sellers (e.g. the national Government or local authorities) or to potential purchasers on a range of issues including:

• Future traffic demand
• Business planning
• Funding sources
• Due diligence review
• Concession contracts
• Risk appraisal
